SUSPECT IN LAST WEDNESDAY’S DOUBLE SHOOTING & HOMICIDE ARRESTED IN VIRGINIA TODAY

(2/19/2009) NEW HAVEN- Early this morning, Darryl Staton was taken into custody in Dumfries, Virginia. Staton was wanted for the murder of Enrique Lawrence and the shooting of his mother Linda last week on Munson Street in New Haven.

Sgt. Vazquez of the Major Crimes Unit received information early this morning that Staton was at a particular location in Dumfries. After confirming this information, Sgt. Vazquez contacted the sheriff's department in Virginia. The sheriff's department took Staton into custody this morning.

Since the murder and shooting, numerous individuals from the community have been in constant contact with Sgt. Vazquez, Detectives Vensel, Perrone, Ettienne and Torquati assisting the police in the investigation and the apprehension of Staton.
